When I started my journey with EBN, I had one goal: “I need to fit into my bridesmaid dress I tried on back in December for my best friend's wedding in September, or I have a serious problem.” Well, a month before the wedding I had my first fitting and I reached my goal even before the end of my 12-week period with EBN. How did I get there? Hard work, consistency and ultimately making changes to my lifestyle with help from Hilary. I will admit, making that first step to reach out to Hilary was terrifying, but it was the biggest step I could make towards reaching my goals. Hilary was someone I always looked up to, and I knew she could help me achieve my goals without judging me and only motivated me each day. I’ll admit, I questioned if this process would really work for me or if I would have to cut out the foods, I love...like pizza! But seeing people's progress motivated me. However, instead of comparing myself to others, I needed to make a change and compare myself only to me. I was always an active person and I ate well, but I just was not consistent. I would lose structure and focus on the weekends, letting myself go. When I learned how to count macros, I learned that your favorite foods aren't off limits! (Which I thought this was a program where you cut out foods – it wasn’t!). I learned strategies about being mindful of how much I was eating, and everything is about moderation. I learned to find the joy in fueling my body with whole foods and having the energy I was missing. Every now and again I may have "slipped," but I didn't fall into my old habits of letting me get off track and lead to a significant downward spiral. Instead, I just learned about having a positive mindset and getting back on track. I wouldn't beat myself up about making mistakes - we are all human! Being with EBN has helped me develop the habit of logging my food every day and planning what I will eat. Planning was something I would lack, especially on my weekends. I know I wasn’t reaching my goals before I started EBN because I would become careless on the weekends. I think having that accountability helped me continue to stay on track every day of the week instead of the usual Monday to Friday. Not only did I learn strategies to help me with mindful eating, but I learned ways to manage my sleep. Before I started with EBN, my sleeping was horrific. I would stay up late and get up early and I found myself more lethargic than ever. Simple changes like shutting off my brain at night by reading a book or having my phone across the room really helped the quality of my sleep. I honestly don’t even pay attention to the weight difference from where I started to now. Hilary taught me the number on the scale doesn’t matter! But instead, I am paying attention to how I look and feel. My clothes have certainly become bigger and that’s all the matters to me – I am reaching my goals each day and I continue to do so. I personally still have a lot more work to do to reach my goals, but these past weeks have taught me it’s the slow and steady process that helps you achieve your goals. I want to thank Hilary for supporting me and always providing me with helpful resources and tips along the way! She truly is an inspiration and I am thankful for all her efforts in helping me!
