I often get asked "how do I eat out successfully?" well, I'm here to help! Below are some tips!
Tips for successfully eating out:
Before you eat out, you should have a game plan. Look at a menu online! Choose your food ahead of time, and log it into MFP. (Then you can plan your day backward around the restaurant meal.)
In order to successfully estimate your portions, one option is to use your hand (the size of a woman’s palm is about 4 ounces of cooked protein, for example). *refer to general guidelines for more info*
Ask your server not to cook your food in butter/oil and to use Pam spray instead. If you order a salad, ask for dressing on the side.
Request that your server does not bring bread to the table.
Choose foods that are leaner protein sources with lower carbohydrates and fat.
Sit at the table so you're facing away from the buffet.
