A lot of people come to a nutrition coach or a personal trainer with the hopes that they will motivate them to work out more or motivate them to eat better. I’ll be the first to tell you that no matter what any does or says the only person who can motivate you is yourself. It may sound harsh but it is reality. Lasting motivation can only come from within. YOU have to be the one who wants to change not anyone else. Your nutrition coach or personal trainer will be there to hold you accountable, however, when it comes down to it the only person who is in charge of packing your lunch or gym bag is you.
At Every Bodies Nutrition, we focus mainly on nutrition but we are also big into encouraging physical activity. In regards to physical activity, it doesn’t just mean go to a CrossFit class, yoga, Pilates, body pump. Although those are all highly encouraged, let’s just focus on the day to day physical activity that you can do that are so simple you won’t even know you’re exercising!
*Go for a 15-minute walk at lunch
*Park further away at any store you go to! Get those steps in!
*Before you turn your TV on at night, if you have stairs in your house then walk up and down your stairs twice.
*Walk to your mailbox.
*If you have a question for someone at work instead of calling them, walk to their office.
If you noticed … all of these activities include walking. Walking is a POWERFUL tool that many of us take for granted. Walking is great physical activity, especially if you find it difficult to find time to exercise. It is highly encouraged to walk 10,000 steps per day. Sounds simple right? Actually, unless you make the honest effort to walk more during your day you would be amazed at how difficult it can be. 10,000 steps per day equal to about 5 miles (give or take). Unless you are on your feet most of the day at work this is very difficult to achieve! Committing to 10,000 steps per day is a great way to get your body moving as a starting point!
So, next time you go to the grocery store, instead of trying to find a close parking spot instead park as far as possible and get those steps in!
